Nicholas John Simitzi was born to John and Lena (Dimas) Simitzi on October 28, 1934 in Santa Barbara, CA. He attended Ventura High School, Ventura College, and UC Santa Barbara, where he excelled as an outstanding football player and received a football scholarship from UCSB. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Woodbury University. Nick was a Ventura County Lifeguard, swim teacher, and avid surfer during his younger years. Nicholas John Simitzi was born to John and Lena (Dimas) Simitzi on October 28, 1934 in Santa Barbara, CA. He attended Ventura High School, Ventura College, and UC Santa Barbara, where he excelled as an outstanding football player and received a football scholarship from UCSB. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Woodbury University. Nick was a Ventura County Lifeguard, swim teacher, and avid surfer during his younger years. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard from 1954-1956. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma National Fraternity. Nick's Father, John, had restaurants in Santa Barbara and Ventura, he followed in his footsteps. He was the owner of Zorbas the Greek Coffee House and Restaurant in Reseda, CA from 1966-1979, former owner of The Greek Market in Northridge, CA, and Nick the Greek International Deli in Thousand Oaks, CA. He was also a food sales representative for companies which included Sysco, Tama Trading, and Concord Foods.

Nick was very proud of his Greek heritage and honored to be an active member of the St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Camarillo, CA where he enjoyed working at the annual Greek Festival. He took great pride in watching his sons play football and was a manager/coach of the Woodland Hills Raiders Pop Warner Football Team.

Nick was a loving Son, Father, and Papou (Grandfather). He had five children, John, Chris, Kirsten, Nicole and Andrew. He had six grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexa, Elena, Troy, Jack, and Nikki. He is also survived by the Mother's of his children, Lilika Gakopoulos Natale and Susan Wheat Simitzi.

He will be missed by all who loved him!

A Trisagion Service will be held on Thursday, June 15th at 7 PM and the Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 16th at 11 AM at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Camarillo, CA. The burial will follow at Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake, CA.
